Trends We've Noticed in 2017

The most asked question we get at Barzotti Woodworking is “what are the most common design trends you notice this year”. Although trends are costantly changing, there are some that are here to stay. In the hopes of answering some of these common questions before the first design meeting we have conducted our own interview with each designer to help find the most popular design selections.

Most peoples first instinct is to chose white, while white is the safest option when choosing a finish it may not always be the trendiest. Although white will never go out of style, we have noticed some other styles and colours that are beginning to take the lead in the design world.

The interviews go as followed:

Q2: Paint or stain?

A: 50/50

Q7: What is the most common question you receive during the design process?

A: “Is it still in style to do a light kitchen with a dark island?”

A: “Although the trend of light perimeter kitchens with a dark stained island is still present, the trend is beginning to fade. People are beginning to move to a light perimeter kitchen with grey painted island; which creates a lighter, more open effect.

The primary tasks in a home kitchen are carried out between the cook top, the sink and the refrigerator. These three points and the imaginary lines between them, make up what kitchen experts call the Kitchen Working Triangle. Another way of making a kitchen more functional is the addition of upgrades.
